Description

Join me on this live-streamed, interactive online experience and learn about the intriguing history of Medici Family, a family that ruled Florence for over three centuries. This tour dwells into the power, money, plots and murders that defined this family.

We will from the Medici palace and walk through the neighbourhood where they lived to the San Lorenzo Church, where they are all buried. Then, we will proceed to Piazza del Duomo, where the magnificent Cathedral of Florence is located. The cathedral also witnessed the terrible assassination of Giuliano dei Medici.

We will walk through the medieval area to see the medieval houses and talk about the life back in those times. We will stop in Piazza della Signoria, the political centre of Florence, which served as the residence of the Medici family for a short time. Next to the square is Uffizi, one of the most important museums in the world. The building was built by Cosimo the Ist of the Medici family for a very important purpose - the offices! We will cross Ponte Vecchio, the famous bridge, known to be the bridge of goldsmiths. Why do you think it was called the bridge of goldsmiths? The reason is behind the Medici!

We will finish this experience at the Pitti Palace, the last Medici residence. You will hear interesting stories about the last member of the family, and how and why this great blood-line ended.

Valentina Longo was born and raised in Florence. She has always liked to travel, so she decided to learn languages; she travelled a lot and lived abroad to improve her language skills. Florence is a place she has always wanted to live in. As a kid, she was always fascinated by the beauty and history of the city. She wanted to combine my passion for travelling and my love for Florence, so she decided to become a tour guide. Being a traveller myself, she knows what people expect when they are abroad. She has been a tour guide for ten years now, and she likes to welcome people from all over the world to the place she loves the most and let them feel at home!

Federica Bustreo obtained her degree in art history from the University of Florence in 2007. After specializing in medieval art history and having spent some time abroad, she returned to Florence. Her wish was to breathe the glory of an unrepeatable and unrivalled past every day, in a city with a truly liveable scale, easy to cross on foot and by bike and to create her own intimate relationship with the streets of Florence. She became a tour guide in 2010 for the purpose of transmitting all these aspects, which are not immediately visible to short-term visitors.

Most enjoyable experience. It was one on one and few people in the city at that time. This made walking and seeing so easy, but I will be happy to see tourists return. I loved my hour with you - it was a time to remember as well as to look forward to a future trip.

  • RALPH STEFANELLI

Valentina was knowledgeable and informative and answered all my questions. She made the tour a delight and I would definitely recommend her and the Medici tour to all who are interested.

  • CATHERINE LOKE

The tour was very enjoyable, and a pleasant surprise that it was one on one - much better being able to talk to someone than just watching a video.

The only drawback was some problems with bandwidth, and the camera resolution was not very high.

But overall a good experience which I highly recommend.
