  • See the places related to the Magnificat and Benedictus
  • Learn about the life of John the Baptist and how experiences here as a child shaped his adult life
Description

Ein Kerem is the birthplace of John the Baptist and where he spent his childhood. We will visit the sites commemorating John's events, such as the Church of Visitation, Mary's Spring, John Beharim Church and the Convent of the Sisters of Zion. Over the centuries, the rulers destroyed and rebuilt many of these locations- we can see the different sections over time. We will also see where Mary met her cousin Elizabeth and praised the Lord in a Song of Mary or the Magnificat. We will actually see the places out of which the Magnificat and Benedictus came to be.

Seeing these sites and the surrounding view will give you an understanding of how it was for John growing up as a child and how his experiences here may have contributed to what he did as an adult and his role in Christianity.
